How to Search for Electric Scooters Online

It is always a wise decision to check out and compare products before spending your hard earned money. At one time the only way to do that was to get in your car and drive all over town, yet if you are looking for an alternate mode of transportation in order to bring down your gasoline bill that would actually defeat the purpose.

So, fire up the computer and begin by typing in Electric Scooters which should bring you enough sites to check. Electric motor scooters all have different features and checking the models out on the web gives you the chance to compare them side by side without leaving home. You will be able to pull several pages at one time to help you compare and make your decision.

For those interested in electric scooters mobility, keep in mind that you can also purchase necessary items online, such as one of the powered scooters that many people use for health reasons. Again, there are many different brands and models that are available and you can check them out and compare the different ones before heading out, thus saving you time.

Not only is it a time saver to shop online it can also be a real help when you have health issues. No painful walking from store to store, as you can just check them out using Electric Scooters website. Most of the sites also have a way to contact them with questions, usually by giving an email address on their website or they have you leave comments directly on their site. You leave them the necessary information and any questions you may have and they will get back to you.

Of course, as with everything there are some things that you need to be aware of when deciding to shop on the internet. It all comes down to being thorough. If you see something that appears a little too good to be true then do your best to track down all of the necessary information.

Many people are wary of buying something off the internet, but if you are careful and diligent about certain things it is a safe and satisfactory option. When checking out Electric Scooters website or a similar site there are a few things you should check for, including whether or not they have adequate contact information. This should include an email address, a regular postal address and some type of phone number. Be sure that the information they give you is clear and concise; if not, either ask additional questions or try a different website.

What Are the Types of Electric Scooters to Choose From?

If you have been looking at electric scooters and trying to decide which one would be right for you, then there are a few questions you may want to consider. Are you going to use it for leisure or to commute to and from work? How far are you going to be traveling? When faced with the many different models of electric scooters, these questions will help you decide which one is right for you.

So basically you need to consider the range of the electric scooters mobility, the rider's weight, the terrain of the area where it will be used, its portability as well as the climate it will be used in. You also want to try a few out to make sure as you can have a choice of stand-up or sit down ones and of course, you need to know what your budget will allow.

When talking about range, it refers to how far the batteries will take you on a single charge, as most electric scooters, under ideal conditions on flat land, no wind, etc., have a standard range of approximately 8 miles. However, it is more likely that a few less miles will be closer to the average. As well, a rider who weights between 180 and 250 lbs will be able to ride most of the different powered scooters. A heavier person will be a little more limited as to the types of such devices available to them.

The terrain is also a consideration when choosing powered scooters, obviously the flatter the land the better. If there is going to be hill climbing involved, then you may want to consider making sure that you purchase one of the 350 watt electric motor scooters. You also need to consider portability, meaning how much will you need to carry the electric scooter around? Most are small enough but some are also fairly heavy and not as easy to fold.

Another thing to consider before you purchase an electric scooter is the climate. If it is sunny and warm pretty much any one of the electric scooters would work for you. If you are stranded in the rain, then most manufactures say it is fine to go ahead and ride the scooter back home if you have no other option. Most of the motors are sealed and a little rain should not hurt them but stay out of the rain if possible. Also keep in mind that both extreme heat and extreme cold may reduce the scooters range.

3 Wheel Electric Scooter - The Ideal Solution to Prevent Fatigue

If you have difficulty standing for an extended period of time or walking long distances, then you may want to consider purchasing one of the electric motor scooters that are available. They are also known as mobility scooters and they have become a very common sight at shopping malls, amusement parks and other public areas.

They are available as a 3 wheel electric scooter or as a 4 wheel scooter. While they are both capable of comfortable and smooth rides, they each have their own set of unique features. The biggest question to ask yourself is what will you be using the scooter for?

In general, the 3 wheel scooter provides more maneuverability, as the design allows for a turning radius that is quite a bit tighter. Normally, these powered scooters are lighter, more portable and narrower, and are especially suited for indoor use. The lighter weight and 3 wheel variety designs are not nearly as effective and have less stability for navigating on uneven roads.

In contrast, the four-wheel scooters are actually built more for outdoors, as the design gives more stability. That, along with more weight and tougher tires ensures that you will get better traction. However, they do lose some maneuverability and actually increase the turning radius quite a bit. Many people enjoy the lightweight feel and the ease of navigation with the 3 wheel electric scooter, and find that they really have no need for the increased performance of the four wheel design.

The 3 wheel scooter is a very popular choice and is available in a wide variety of designs, colors and styles from many different manufacturers. Also remember that it is possible for the electric mobility scooter to be changed and upgraded with different features in case you do cannot find exactly what you are looking for.

Since it can be difficult at times to find everything you need on one 3 wheel electric scooter, it may be possible to perform upgrades to a basic model. You may get a higher seat back, all-terrain tires or increased suspension along with other upgrades. Keep in mind that unless your doctor can verify that these upgrades are a medical necessity, then it is likely that your insurance company will only cover the basic amount. Even with your doctor stating this is needed, getting the insurance to cover the upgrades to your electric mobility scooter can be frustrating.

Ten Motorcycle Tourers

Selecting a Tourer is a very personal thing, and I'm not saying that these ten machines are the best. Some may not be still in production, but they are all available, albeit second hand.

HONDA GOLDWING GL1800

The only bit of kit that Honda's Flagship is missing is an ashtray, and they're probably working on that at the moment. This bike has been around a long time in one guise or another, but you only have to see the number of owners clubs and members to realise that its popularity isn't waning yet. A high-tech aluminium chassis keeps the weight down, providing a surprising turn of speed. This is the ultimate tourer, but just too bulky looking for some people.

BMW K1200LT

Although still quite heavy, this bike is more economical than the Goldwing. Looking around, it seems to be one of the most popular tourers around and rightly so if it's power you want, but it needs a little care on the twisties. Newer models are fitted with a reverse gear.

HARLEY DAVIDSON ELECTRA GLIDE

It's big, it's brash and it's American. Definitely built for comfort, not speed, but will turn more heads than you can shake a stick at. 110mph from a 1449cc engine says it all. One of the advantages of owning this machine is the minimal depreciation, and you're always going have something to talk about to any passing stranger.

TRIUMPH TIGER TOURER

Oodles of acceleration, limited vibration and a truly versatile character. But having said that, if you're on the short side, forget it. Being a shorty myself, I think it's a shame that motorcycle manufacturers exclude a huge section of potential customers by having a high seat. However, the taller motorcyclists I know assure me that this is an exceptional bike. I'll just have to take their word for it.

HONDA ST1300 PAN EUROPEAN

This is one of the most silky, comfortable, fast machines you're ever likely to have the pleasure of putting your bum on. Even with two up it handles superbly. If you're thinking about buying a tourer, this has to be worth considering.

YAMAHA FJR1300

This shaft driven offering from Yamaha was specifically built with touring in mind. The huge capacity tank and hard luggage are just part of the deal. Loads of power from the reliable engine will get you out of trouble, but that doesn't mean it's thirsty. The FJR represents value for money and I like it.

MOTO GUZZI NORGE 1200

An excellent value for money, shaft driven bike from Moto Guzzi. With a range in the region of 200 miles and a comfortable riding position, this is a true tourer. Some harshly describe this as the poor man's BMW, but let's get one thing straight; it's shaft driven, but it's not a BMW.

TRIUMPH TROPHY 1200

Sadly discontinued in 2002, the Trophy is still worth considering if you can find a decent second hand model. It's a heavy bike, but it's much cheaper than say, the Pan's and you'll still be getting a lot of bike for your money. For such a big bike, the cornering capabilities and general handling are pretty good, and you could do far worse than go for one of these, especially if you are on a limited budget.

HONDA DEAUVILLE

This mid size tourer can turn its hand to anything; ideal for commuting on a daily basis and touring across Europe, and the 54 litres of colour coded luggage will help. Low service costs and insurance group make the Deauville very attractive. The build quality of this shaft driven machine is legendary, making it high on would be adventurers' short lists.

BMW R1200RT

A faster, lighter and much welcome successor to the R1150RT, this machine is not just a good tourer, it's a good bike. One nice innovation on this bike is the height adjustable seat (there I go again). The Telelever/Paralever suspension provides excellent handling as you would expect from a BMW. Expect to pay a decent price for a second hand one, as these bikes hold their money, but if it's in good condition you're going to be the owner one nice bike.

Well, there are ten bikes for you, and they all have something to offer whatever your circumstances. If your favourite was not included, I apologise.

Closer Look - The Zap Zapino Electric Moped

If you prefer traditional, but more modern-styled mopeds, then the Zapino electric moped will appeal to you for sure. For the urban or close suburban commuter, the around-towner, or people who need a small, low-cost get-arounder for their RV or similar use, it's hard to beat the Zapino. And for the ladies out there? It's available in pink! Sold yet?

OK, let's look at some specifications and information on this neat little ride. First, it's rear-wheel driven and the motor is mounted directly adjacent to the wheel, so no long belts or chains-this means less vibration, less maintenance, etc.

To me, though, the machine has two big selling points: the $3,500 price tag and the 30mph/30 mile speed and range. That and it's relative light weight (less than 300 pounds) make it a good option for those who need something small, usable, and that has enough storage space/capacity to make it a realistic errand runner.

Here's a couple of other specs that will probably decide it for you, one way or another:

Motor: 3000W brushless, 60V
Controller: DBI (digital battery indicator)
Brakes: front-rear disc
Batteries: 60V lead-acid (optional Li-Ion available)
Range: 30 miles (optional batteries boost this to 65)
Weight Limit: 280 lbs.

The Zapino is a big step up from the line of mopeds ZAP has been offering thus far. Building on their kiddie-mopeds-with-motors background, ZAP introduced the Zappy 3 Pro, which wasn't much of a leap forward from earlier models. The Zapino, however, is a big jump ahead and a whole new market for this company.

Closer Look - The Vectrix VX-1 Electric Moped

Mopeds have come a long way from their early days as glorified bicycles and nerd-haulers. They aren't just for geeks anymore, but have grown up into stylish and sleek performance machines. The Vectrix VX-1 is one of the top machines on this list and is fast becoming the world's leader in all-electric, road worthy electric mopeds. Even the NYPD is fielding them!

These mopeds (they look more like a small motorcycle to me) debuted in America in 2006 and went into broader national sales in 2008 and are now available in most major cities in both the U.S.A. and the EU. The '08 and '09 models retail for about $11,000 (before rebates or incentives) with all the trimmings and are made (for the most part) in the company's Massachusetts plant while EU models are made primarily in Poland.

Sounds pretty expensive. Right? It is, all at once, for a "moped." Consider this, though: if you continue to drive your car, what will that cost? Let's do some quick math. Over a year, the average person will drive their car to work about 250 days of the year. At a commute of about 30 miles round trip, gas prices at $2.50/gallon, and miles per gallon at 25 in-city, that works out to $750 in gas (7500 miles, 300 gallons). That's an optimistic set of numbers and does not include maintenance costs, but it gets the point across. A VX-1 moped, under the same conditions, would have less than half the maintenance costs of a car and zero gasoline purchases. Ad in the other errands you use a car for and you can see why these are becoming so desirable to people.

Models have been test-driven and adopted by several large groups, including the New York City Police Department and police departments in Scotland, Italy, France, and others. So these aren't fly-by-night machines, but real workhorses. Their 24-month warranty is standard. Of course, that means nothing without specs. Right?

Exactly. So let's look at how these electric mopeds stack up. The VX-1 2009 model specifications are pretty impressive for an electric moped. We'll start with the fast numbers, the ones that will make-or-break this electric for most daily users:

Max Speed: 62mph / 100km/h
Acceleration: 0-31mph (50km/h) in 3.6 seconds
Range: 68 miles under optimum conditions (35 miles average)
Battery recharge time: 80% charge in 2 hours (110v)
Estimated battery life: 10 years or 50,000 miles (80,000 km)

Those numbers will probably decide it for you. For some of us, an all-electric is not likely because of range restrictions, but for suburban and urban commuters, this little moped is a very likely candidate. This is also one of the very few all-electrics available right now that is federally highway and freeway rated. That's an important consideration for many.

The VX-1 has a lot of other impressive features besides it's core specs. It's really friendly LCD instrumentation is one. These can be seen in most light conditions and tell you at a glance where you are in terms of speed, battery power, etc. There's even a "backwards mileage counter" on the display that shows you about how many more miles you can go under your current riding conditions.

The whole bike weighs about 450 pounds and has a "trunk" (under the seat) big enough for a full-face helmet to fit into, plus a small glove box at the front big enough for a cell phone, iPod, etc. (even with accessories). An optional cargo box ads even more storage. This means no nerdy backpack required while riding your moped.

Other great ideas like regenerative braking, where you turn the throttle forwards (rather than back) to decelerate without using your physical brakes, can ad up to 15% of the power returning to the moped. This form of braking still activates the brake lights, so it's not dangerous to use it in traffic. Standard hand brakes (working like a motorcycle's disc brakes) are also on the moped.

So there you have it, the Vectrix VX-1 electric moped. Watch for further developments too, as they test market their new three-wheeled model, which has better stability and handling.

New Trends and Styles in Motorcycle Helmets

To the everyday man, a motorcycle is all about speed. The adrenaline rush experienced while going full throttle headily- there is nothing like it. Have you thought of a helmet then? Probably not.

Granted you might be confident as a rider, and well-trained as well, but road safety measures do not exist for nothing. You should always protect yourself form possible harm and accidents while driving, especially if you are driving a two wheeler. A helmet is the first precautionary step you can take. In crunch times it can make a difference between life and death. In fact, you need not be apprehensive about wearing one because they have become a style statement today.

New trends in motorcycle helmets are really striking today. For example, Scorpion helmets have been at the forefront of new generation motorcycle helmets and other driving-safety gear. It is not only their engineering excellence that makes Scorpion helmets stand out, it is also their innovative graphic designs. In fact the never-before graphic designs of ScorpionExo Helmets are said to be created by their designers spread the world over from Europe to Southern California. Isn't that fantastic? Which one suits your style is your choice. But we can guarantee this- You have a lot of choices.

Obviously, before buying a helmet, you would want to combine style with comfort. The first thing you should do is visit the websites of major helmet manufacturers and shortlist the ones you like, based on what you like in them. Make sure that the helmet you choose meets the specified safety standards like absorbing certain impact energy and fastening quality. Fit is another important criterion.

Try on helmets and see what fits you the best. While you can buy both helmets covering a part of your face and ones covering the entire face, and while both will protect you from the fatigue and the noise of the wind, the full faced one is more advisable since it will also prevent insects from entering the helmet. In case of a crash too, a full faced helmet is better since it protects you from the full impact of the crash. Though helmets are available in a wide variety of prices, think about your safety before you think about economy.

Most helmets today are made of state-of-the-art materials, which means that the outer shell is made of fiberglass and Kevlar matrix to withstand the highest impacts during any crash. The helmets made in the other eras were not as efficient as these because they were not wind tunnel tested and aero tuned to ensure aerodynamic superiority.

ScorpionExo helmets feature the HelmetPump which helps the riders have a perfect fit, and the advanced SpeedView feature in the face shield automatically adjusts itself according to the intensity of the sunlight. This is especially helpful when you are driving on bare stretches or in cities.

Always look for features that will provide the most of your money's worth while buying helmets, and at the same time ensure that you have maximum safety while driving.

Motorcycle Buying Tips - Making Sure it Fits Right What You Need it For

We all have our preference for our ride. Some of us may enjoy the convenience of a four-wheeled vehicle. Yes, it is very convenient because you can put your luggage in it with the benefit of holding three to four passengers. That is just for a typical car. If you ride a pick-up truck or a van, the loading capacity is higher. However, some prefer to practical rides that are also cost-effective. With this in mind, a motorcycle becomes the perfect choice of ride that they opt to use.

Do not get it wrong. There are expensive motorcycles because of their exquisite engineering. However, we have to admit that this vehicle has been a rising popularity due to its affordable versions that are perfect for city driving or long range driving in pavements. In some countries, their streets are dominated by these rides. Therefore, in buying them what should you be considering?

Safety is one of the common issues in riding a bike. This has been one of its stereotyped discussions because the way it is made is like making you open to danger. Because of this, protective gear is very much required especially for the beginners. Choose the right helmet, leather jacket, leather motorcycle gloves, boots and eyewear. They also provide additional warmth and convenience when driving in cold weathers.

Buying a motorcycle entails many things. You just do not consider the physical aspect of it but you also have to consider its functionality. Remember most of this kind that we use for city driving are quite small, therefore, expect limit in passenger and luggage. If you expect a passenger to ride with you at all times, you need to consider their convenience as well. This would mean you have to choose the ones with footrests or bigger space for back rides. If you want luggage, you need to find the ones that have big spaces for it. If it is speed you are looking for, there are also different kinds built for it. You see, most of the bikes that you need should be tailored-fit according to what your use. This way, you can be more practical in your choices.

Your comfort and your convenience should be a consideration too. If you are a small person and yet you want a big bike, ask yourself if you can control it easily. Even if you have the finest leather motorcycle gloves, will you still be able to grip the accelerator firmly. Those are simple things but mind you, your convenience is also a determinant of your safety. Therefore, do not take it for granted.

The price is such an undying issue. Some buy these rides for collection purposes. This means they can be overly expensive that they cost more than an ordinary 4-wheeled vehicle would do. For some, they choose it for leisure as they engage in popular dirt biking or motocross activities. On the other hand, others buy it merely for transportation, just to get them where they need to go. Therefore, you need to buy what you money could afford.

Closer Look - The XM-5000Li Electric Moped by X-Treme Scooters

It's not often that I'm impressed when I look at a scooter or moped. I generally don't like them. But this one is different. The XM-5000Li electric moped by X-Treme Scooters has a lot of great features for such a low-priced machine, including a boatload of power. Most mopeds are underpowered weaklings without much excuse for their existence. Not this one.

The XM-5000Li is 100% electric and has a 5,000 watt rear hub motor, but still manages to be very lightweight because of it's lithium-ion batteries (thus the "Li" in the name), coming in at only 216 pounds total weight. Two can ride comfortably, since it can carry up to 400 pounds in payload.

The motor is mounted on the rear hub, so there's no chain or belt, which is normally the highest-maintenance part on electric mopeds. the XM-5000Li has also got ABS braking on both wheels and a maximum range of about 85 miles with a top speed of 60mph. Impressive for such a small machine.

For practicality, the XM-5000Li is pretty good on features too. It's got a cargo space under the seat that's about the size of a large bag of groceries and a stable kick stand as well. The seat is about 34 inches high and it uses a twist throttle like a motorcycle and has an easy-to-read LED dash. The tires are standard moped/motorcycle-sized and so are easily found after-market for replacement, if needed. The batteries have a 2-year warranty and will likely last 5-7 years under normal use.

This is a great get-around electric moped with a lot of potential for use in the urban and suburban market. I'm not easily impressed, especially by mopeds and scooters, but this one gets an "A." Along with it's little brothers, the XM-3500Li electric moped and the XM-3000 electric moped, the XM-5000Li electric moped is available right now for about $6,000, nationally, through independent distributors as a 2009 model.
